MUST DIE! SENPAI
He’s done it again. Loved it.
I love this book. It was different but still had familiar Stephen King-esque protagonists and antagonists. The plot is semi-predictable but never seems boring.
Mr. King may be the best ever. No one can grab you and not let go with so few words as he. He paints pictures in your mind and makes you FEEL what his characters feel. You hear the sounds and smell the smells.
Mr. King, how do you do it?
Story takes a while to turn quirky. The outsider, that is the supposed to be the unnerving character of the book, seems to develop in the story as if an amateur author wrote the story. Not your typical Steven King story that draws you in and won’t let go.
Reminded me of IT. I love the character development, the entire plot, and the sensory writing. Ugh I want more haha!
Very entertaining and one of those books I find hard to put down with very colorful characters and one weird villain
Boring. Not one of his best. Halfway thru nothing still had happened. I almost stopped reading it, but since I am OCD about finishing books I read it till the end. If you expect it to be scary , it’s not, if you expect great supernatural suspense , there really isn’t any. Read one his older books.
Oddly disappointed, I love all things King and I struggled to finish this one.
My favorite Stephen King novel is, and always will be, 11/22/63, therefore, I compare each new novel to that gem of a book.
That said, The Outsider is a winner, one I started and couldn’t put down.
Extremely well developed characters and a mystery that begins unlike other King books has one thinking this book will be “straight;” i.e., not horror genre. There are surprises in store as the story develops, as each chapter pops them out of nowhere.
One surprise has Holly Gibney, of Mr. Mercedes trilogy fame in a return appearance and lovable as always.
The only downside is waiting for the next Stephen King book but that’s been so since I read Salem’s lot MANY years ago.
Loved The Outsider, Mr. King. As always, thank you for another great read.
It’s ok. King has written many terrific books over the years. Books that were very hard to put down. Books that were scary or thrilling. This is not one of them. You get the feeling that he coasted through this one. Well, he did.
I love everything that Stephen King writes, and The Outsider was no exception. There were some nice surprises in there that I enjoyed, yet wasn’t expecting. I gave it four stars, which is not a knock against the story at all, I just need to save that extra star for the epic stories that I really love: IT, The Dark Tower, Under the Dome, The Green Mile...my absolute favorites.
